Every year since 2001 an outstanding young student from the area is selected as our official parade starter.

We are proud to announce that the official parade starter of the 75th annual Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade is Caroline Boarman.

Caroline is the daughter of Steve and Tracie Boarman of Utica.  She is a student at Southern Oaks Elementary School where she lists art and math as her two favorite subjects. Caroline is active in our community through Girl Scouts and softball as well as being the 2011 Grand Prize winner of the Sunrise Children’s Services Christmas Art Contest. After blowing the starting whistle, Caroline can be seen on the Sunrise Children’s Service “Everyday Heroes” float celebrating that everyone can be a hero to a child in need!
